Happiness: A Gardener's Point of View

Posted: Tuesday, April 28, 2009

by Nenita Wells

The gardener has often wondered,
What trees to plant in his garden bared.
He pondered awhile and looked around.
The answer, he finally found.

You see, the day before last.
A storm has visited the gardener's lot.
Roaring wind and heavy rain,
Wreaked havoc upon the plain.

He wanted to plant the trees of kind,
That will stand the test of time.
Apple, grapefruit, persimmon, lemon
Fruit-bearing trees to nourish mankind.

The gardener has seen it all,
He had been to different lands,
To fight and defend the ideals
Of his country and men.

In no time, he will be a centenarian,
Enjoying, indulging, the fruit of his work.
The cherry trees are blossoming again,
Ah, the happiness he felt just looking in.

Beautiful poem. Im glad there is someone appreciates the work of a gardener which is often not seen by many. We eat the fruit of work but never thank them.I think it is not just a poem, it is a wake up call by taking care of our environment we, can certainly get a hundred folds back.

Thank you.

Carmellita,
Thanks for reading my poem.  The most wonderful thing about gardening is the anticipation of how beautiful a flowering plant or an herb look when it is alive and blooming.  Good luck.

I have seen much joy in the gardening of flowers for the simple beauty of it. I can only imagine the gardening of fruitful trees to be a grand splender in it's own might.
