Magdalene Is My Mother's Name

by Nenita Wells

I saw an angel today,
Her face is sculptured and gay,
She gave me her reassuring smile.
I went back to sleep and stayed awhile.

I was hoping I will see her again,
In the recesses of my brain,
So that I can meet her again
Even just in my dream.

The face I often see
Was so loving and carefree
She often said this with glee
"You are a good daughter to me."

Melancholic feelings I am afraid
Wishing she could have stayed
A little bit longer as we prayed
She said goodbye and we parted.

She took care of eight children.
Affection, attention, devotion freely given,
Her love for us was never hidden.
She is my mother, her name is Magdalene.

To me she is an angel,
My guidance and counsel
Things she taught me will stay
Made me what I am today.

Sounds like a Proverb's 31 mom. It takes a very special mom to raise eight children. Thank you for sharing with us.

What a lovely tribute to your mother. Isn't it wonderful when you do meet your mother in a dream?

No one ever fills the void when your mother leaves. It's good to know you will see her again.

Thank you Connor for commenting and reading my poem.
I don't know how my mother did it, raising eight children, but she did wonderfully.  My oldest sister, Dulce was born in 1936 and my youngest sister, Anita was born in 1960, 24 years between them.  Your grandma is one of 12.  Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again.

Hi! Sis
Yes, you made a great poem to our mother. Im too very happy and grateful to have a mother, who are so very kind, loving, who have a big patience to take care us (8 children). It also reminds me, when I got pregnant that she almost cry talking to me how it happened. If I had a problem, she is there to comfort me and give me an advice what to do. Its just sad that she was not around anymore that we are here in America, and we visited her sister in California on her 84th birthday. She must be very happy, but I know that she did happy because she is with us anyway.
I missed her very much and she is always in our heart.
Thank you for sharing this good poem, keep a good work and more power to you.
Your sis,
Anita

well, perfect again... gee.. how u do that? Wish our ancestors could see it. I also miss your Mama. My Grandma also had taught us lots of things. Sometimes, I see them in my dreams. Both of them with Grandpa. Just smiling back. Not saying a word. Wish the dream had been longer.
