Online Dating Tip: Write A Poem

I have always been fascinated and intimidated at the same time with online dating. One day, I summoned my courage and decided to try my luck and registered with one of the online dating websites. It was intimidating at first but later found out from reading profiles of gentlemen members from different countries that they were just as intimidated as I was. I thought it was okay to try it.
I registered at one particular website that my friend provided me, wrote a member overview stating, "I am a good person with happy disposition. I have love to give and share. I am easy to get along. Simplicity, honesty, caring and romantic, generally is what I am. My every day goal is to enjoy and to appreciate every moment, for life is too short, and live it to the fullest. I am grateful to the Almighty Father for all the blessings He has given me. If interested, I will be delighted to hear from you."
You also have to provide information about your gender, age, marital status, your hair and eye color, your weight and height, ethnicity, religion, education, occupation, your spoken language, if you drink or smoke and if you are willing to relocate. The last question, I was a little apprehensive.
The website asked you for your favorite movie, book, food, music, dress style. I answered the questions and proceeded to answer more questions such as what are your hobbies and interests. Have you traveled to what places, what is your idea of a romantic date, what do you consider as a perfect match? What kind of humor do you enjoy? I answered all of the questions. I thought it was okay to become a member.
Now, the next step was to provide the website a description of the person I was seeking. So, I wrote, "I am seeking someone special who enjoys and celebrates life, a love to give and share, honest and meant what he says. One who is grateful for every breath he takes and is considerate of someone else's feelings, thoughtful, optimistic and with a happy disposition. I WANT TO HEAR HIM LAUGH, laughter of joy, for laughter--- the best medicine to maintain a happy and healthy heart."
Was I asking or seeking too much? I did not know. I said what I thought was the right description of a gentleman I was looking for. I smiled and answered the next group of questions. What age group? Are you looking for friendship, pen pal, relationship or marriage? I chuckled, smiled and answered, "All of the above."
Then, they advised you that in order to receive favorable responses, upload up to five photos and the website will post the best one with your profile. I picked the photos with the welcoming smile. It was not as difficult as I thought it to be.
The best feature of this website was that you can send e-mail messages, chat with online members who have gold or platinum membership status. As a standard member, I qualified for a free membership and I can send a "show interest" and send e-mail to other members.

One, two, three days passed and I found out that there were gentlemen from Australia , Sweden , Spain , Norway , Japan , U.S. and the Philippines who responded and there were messages in my INBOX. I exclaimed, "Wow, this is good and I am into global dating!"
I was enthused with all the favorable responses. "Your profile is interesting, caught my eyes and I thought I would write." It was fantastic! I wrote, and they sent email messages. I chatted, and they chatted back and then I thought and I wondered what the effect a poem will do. This was one of the poems I wrote.
To My Online Friend
"I am happy knowing that in your own way,
Feel I am close to you no matter how far away.
I am glad we connected, you are across the mile
I am in the States but I can see your smile.
Will our friendship grow and blossom?
Will you see the same stars I see you pick at random?
The big or small dipper in the constellation?
I would love to know from you with fascination.
I am eagerly waiting for what you will say,
Chat, send an e-mail messages, you may.
You have a very interesting personality
I want to know more about you and your family."

It is better than hanging out in bars and blind dates. Most people treated it as a taboo, and seemed to look down on the process. However, times have changed and technology is the way of the now (the future). Well done and thank you for easing the fear of reaching out to others and finding true love.Sincerely,LawrenceLawrence,Thank you for your warm and kind words. Nenita, why not poetry? It is good in every other area of our lives, why not show a creative side with a poem. I am curious to hear your responses.Hi Lorrie. I want to thank you for reading and commenting on my article/poem, it meant a lot to me. Yes, you are absolutely right. The rythmic and beautiful words in a poem written to a particular person expresses vividly ones emotions. The recipient of such expression of feelings, is without doubt, feels flattered and special. It also eases the getting-to-know process. That is the reason why I loved to incorporate poetry into my e-mails and chats. Thanks again for stopping by.Best regards,Nenita
