They Make Me Smile, Oh So Delightful

by Nenita Wells

I heard the rustling of the leaves
And I saw a squirrel in the eaves.
I could not help but smile
Brown furry creature so agile.

I felt the balmy summer breeze
And heard robins chirping in the trees.
I could not help but smile
The symphony stayed awhile.

I saw a tiny bird humming
Hovering and wings flapping.
I could not help but smile
It can fly backward so versatile.

I followed a man and his dalmatian dog
Talking to it but in monologue.
I could not help but smile
Man and friend spending time worthwhile.

My neighbor adopted strayed cat named Cee Cee.
Every afternoon in the front garden waits for me
And greets me.  I could not help but smile,
Lovable funny creature sitting on a sundial.

Squirrels, robins, dogs, hummingbirds
Cats, and all beautiful perfect creatures
They make us smile and oh so delightful.
I thanked God, He created them all, so beautiful!

Squirrels, robins, and hummingbirds. Yes I sit on my patio enjoying the Squirrels burying its nuts, and Robins (birds period)feeding their families and building nests. I enjoy the Hummingbirds (very few) suspended in air as enjoying the nectar happily. I enjoyed this article because with age I am more slowed to take time and enjoy God's wonders.

Nenita,

Your poem is quite peaceful and intoxicating. It paints a vivid picture of nature and it's wonders. I see a great future for you in writing prose and poems. I can't wait to read your first book.

Keep it coming. Your voice is a reflection of oracle of ancient times. You write with such wisdom and simplicity.

Thank you for sharing.
Sincerely,
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence.
I, myself, am amazed how a poem about nature has evoked positive reaction such as yours.  If I have painted a vivid picture of nature, then, i was able to accomplish what i intended to do.  Thank you for your most generous words and encouragement.  Good luck with your book.
Best regards,
Nenita

hi nenita,

i love nature, and many times, when in deep distress, i go outside and just let nature take over me, and i watch everything that is going on, and before i know it, i feel better.

Hi Sue.
Thank you for reading and commenting my poem.  Like you, the sounds of nature has been very therapeutic to me, invigorating.  Are you familiar with the song..."The sun belongs to everyone, the best thing in life are free..." ? It is true, nature is so generous.  We give praise to the Lord.
Thanks again Sue for liking my poem.
Blessings.
Best regards,
Nenita

Hi Tennyson.
Thank you for your liking my poem.  Thank you for commenting and reading this piece.  Your "Can Money Buy You Happiness" is an interesting article and I enjoyed the statement, "Happiness is not a commodity, therefore not purchaseable as it is feelings and feelings cannot be bought." How true it is!
Best regards,
Nenita
